Feet
It is important to make clear that between health
and esthetic there should not be a line separating those two,
they should be contemplating each other. There is a single idea that
coincides in both: the satisfaction that
they bring woman.
If somebody sees a nice pair of legs you rarely would think about
how important they are for the organism. Usually their esthetic
aspect dominates, and only few know that they make up 50% of our
height, that 40% of our body's skin cover them, that they have the
body's longest bone as well as the heaviest (the thighbone) and that
the longest vein runs through them -the safena-, that runs from the
foot to the groin.
The inferior extremities are not exempt from suffering damage or
being victim of the carelessness of their owner, thus we have to
take precautions to make them the center of attention during this
summer. In the following text we are going to give you some advice
to help their esthetic aspect as well as their health.
Varicous veins
The first thing we should worry about is health. You should give the
varicous veins attention, they are little veins of a greenish blue
color that can be found in the feet. The are formed when some veins
or valves of the circulation system are weakened or slimmed down,
resulting in the blood not flooding like it usually does and
accumulating in certain parts of the extremities, building the
origin of disagreeable and annoying varicous veins.
It is common to feel that your feet are tired and heavy, to feel
inflammation, pain and cramps at night time, symptoms that you
notice especially in periods with lots of heat, like in summer time
in certain regions. Doctors recommend, as well, to fresh up your
extremities occasionally, give them smooth upwards orientated
massages to keep the circulation stimulated, or as well, move your
feet's position occasionally if you are seated or standing over a
longer period of time; particularly, do not smoke or eat too much
salt or overload on food.
Beauty through movement
Feet that are white from fat accumulation, and as well have
circulation problems, -in combination with retained water- produce celulitis.
The first source of that problem is a sitting life, meaning,
spending you day sitting in a car, at work or at home. Physical
exercise is the thing we recommend most, it also helps to burn
calories, eliminate excess fat, strengthen muscles and stimulate the
circulation.
If you have one hour daily available we recommend to go swimming, go
walking or biking, stopping before the muscles get too hot. If you
want stronger results, try going up and down stairs, lets say 100
stairs a day, and gradually increase this routine to 20 sessions a
day where to climb up 25 stairs each time. Another suggestion would
be jump the rope, like you did in primary school, an exercise that
helps the muscles, calves and glutens. You can start with 10 series
of a minute and a half, with recovery periods of 2 minutes.
More exercise
When you sit down, place a gum ball between your legs, squeezing it
with your muscles in rhythmical movements contracting at the same
time the glutens and the muscles of the stomach.
Lie down on your right side with your legs together and stretched
out; put the palm of your left hand on the floor, just in front of
your hip, with the arm being flexible; contract the belly, relax
your shoulders and hold your head up with your right hand (the
forearm of the same side is relaxing completely). Lift the legs
approximately 15 centimeter over the floor without bending the
knees, trying to do it 120 times in a minute; change side and
do the same on the other side.
To take a rest, giving yourself smooth circular massages that also
help the circulation, and when you take a shower or bathe use cold
water, as hot water loosens the textures.
